Isolation, Institutions, and Episodic Snaps
What this task rewards: Defining the Void
On a bare or lightly furnished stage, lighting can do more work to establish location, focus and transitions. A hard-edged special might isolate Verity; an abrupt state change might mark an episode boundary; a warmer shared wash might make later institutional contrast stronger. Choose the state that serves the exact moment rather than making the whole play uniformly oppressive.

The Clinical Wash
For an institutional scene, a cold white or pale-blue wash can make the space feel exposed and impersonal. Keep enough modelling on faces for the acting to remain readable, then explain why this colder state contrasts with a domestic or shared moment.
